You’re Invited to Join the Journey of Stewardship
Understanding Biblical Stewardship
We’ve been on a journey through stewardship:
- Part 1: Defined stewardship clearly.
- Part 2: Explored common stewardship struggles.
- Part 3: Looked to Jesus as the ultimate steward.
- Part 4: Discovered Jesus’ practical plan in Scripture.
Now, in Part 5, I invite you to join me on a deeper journey.
An Invitation: Genesis to Revelation
Lord willing, I’m embarking on a journey through the Bible. Together, we’ll examine each of the approximately 2,350 Bible verses related to money, possessions, work, and stewardship.
We’ll start at Genesis and finish at Revelation. Each day, we’ll unpack one verse at a time. I’m not certain of success, but I’m committed to trying. I invite you to join me by subscribing to this newsletter.
Why This Matters: Eternal Stakes
Stewardship matters deeply. It impacts our earthly lives and carries eternal significance. Jesus’ parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) highlights how stewardship affects both our temporal and eternal future.
Being a wise steward improves our relationships:
- With others.
- With creation.
- With possessions.
Hebrews 12:1 encourages us:
“Let us lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set before us.”
Material possessions can become burdens that slow our spiritual journey. Good stewardship means knowing when to say no—sometimes even to good things—to pursue what’s best.
What You Stand to Gain
By growing in stewardship, we gain flourishing relationships. We were created for healthy, beautiful relationships with:
- Other people.
- God’s creation.
- Our money and possessions.
- Ourselves, seeing ourselves clearly as humble stewards, not slave-masters or slaves.
The High Cost of Poor Stewardship
Matthew 25 reveals severe consequences for poor stewardship. The lazy steward buried his talent and faced eternal punishment (Matthew 25:30). Poor stewardship can also cause painful temporal losses—jobs, homes, even relationships.
The stakes couldn’t be higher.
Transformation Through Stewardship
My prayer is for transformation—yours and mine. As we behold Christ, Scripture promises we will be transformed from one degree of glory to another (2 Corinthians 3:18).
I invite you to subscribe below. We’ll begin with meditations from Genesis chapters 1–11, followed by insights from Abraham’s life.
Welcome, friend, to this adventure of growing as faithful stewards.
