Jesus: The Best Guide for Faithful Stewardship
A Biblical Vision of Faithful Stewardship – Part 3
In this third post of our stewardship series, we ask an important question:
Who is the best guide to help us grow as wise and faithful stewards?
Many people can teach us helpful things. But only one guide knows our hearts, understands our fears, and has full authority over all things. That guide is Jesus Christ.
We Can Learn from Many Guides
God uses many people to help us grow.
We can learn from:
- Budgeting experts
- Skilled investors
- Professionals in law, medicine, cybersecurity, and other fields
These people have valuable knowledge. Their guidance is useful. But their wisdom is limited. They do not fully understand our struggles. And they cannot give us the power to overcome sin and fear.
Jesus Understands Our Weakness
Jesus is not only truly God—He is also truly human.
“We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses.” — Hebrews 4:15
Jesus worked as a carpenter (Greek: tekton). He did manual labor. He lived in a broken world. He experienced weariness, sorrow, and hunger. He understands what we face.
Philippians 2 tells us He took on the form of a servant and became obedient—even to death on a cross (Philippians 2:7–8).
When we struggle with fear, greed, doubt, or discouragement, Jesus gets it. He lived it. He sympathizes with us.
Jesus Has Complete Authority
Jesus isn’t just a companion in our struggles—He is Lord over them.
“He was tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.” — Hebrews 4:15
He overcame the devil in the wilderness. He stood against corrupt governments and religious systems. He lived without sin in a sinful world.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” — Matthew 28:18
He is the heir of all things (Hebrews 1:2). Everything belongs to Him. He knows how to manage all creation. He is the King of kings and the ultimate steward.
Follow the One Who Knows and Reigns
Yes, we should learn from wise people. We can learn something from almost anyone. But Jesus is the only guide who:
- Fully understands our fears
- Stands with us in our weaknesses
- Has all authority in heaven and on earth
He is both our sympathetic friend and our sovereign Lord.
If you want to grow as a steward, look to Jesus above all. He is the guide we need most.
